What can Sitara offer a sponsor?
Be a part of bringing the Sitara magic to the underprivileged children of Cairo by donating to our Art Matters Programme
Art Matters Programme
Sitara also wants to reach CHILDREN FROM UNDERPRIVILEGED BACKGROUNDS, who would not normally have the opportunity to go to the theatre.
Sitara offers their workshops and shows for free. Your donations are used to help pay for transport, refreshments, souvenirs and, if necessary, for studio time – re-recording our English workshops into Arabic. We launched our Art Matters Programme on 20th May 2010 with two free shows of Jack and the Beanstalk for over 100 refugees.
In 2012 Sitara took part in the Hakawy Festival free of charge as shows were offered to children who would not normally have any access to theatre. We greatly enjoyed working with AFCA, a wonderful arts organisation.
In 2013, we offered Ali Baba IN ARABIC!!! to orphans through the Dar al Ormanorganiation. The orphans came to Sitara and through generous donations we were able to give the students magic sticks and cookies to give them the full Sitara experience.
In 2015, Sitara invited orphans and refugees to enjoy Sleeping Beauty in Arabic, followed by a workshop on shadow puppetry. Together with our host school, Windrose Academy, we raised funds to provide lunch and a whole bag of Sitara goodies for each student. The students had a full day of Sitara magic thanks to the generosity of the Windrose parents and children.
In 2017, Sitara invited orphans to use their space in Porto Cairo and performed The Gruffalo in arabic for the Children's Cancer Hospital.
If you know of any deserving children who you think would enjoy Sitara shows please inform us. Donations for this programme will be used to provide lunch and souvenirs so the children have the full Sitara experience. All shows and workshops are offered free of charge to Art Matters children.
